Middle School (Grades 5-8)
“Thank you for a fantastic presentation at our Dignity Day Expo. Kids loved it! My colleagues were amazed at how your music grabbed students and your message seeped in. They left singing your songs. (They're still singing Compasión in the halls.) Your music was so engaging and your message incredibly relevant!” Craig Dreves, Teacher Rye Middle School Rye, New York (Grades 6-9) |

Although middle school students are known to be "tough audiences," this age group is very receptive to Stand Up! Speak Out! because this music was written for them: savvy young listeners who appreciate a well-crafted song with a good hook, irresistible beat, and compelling lyrics.
The music creates a space that can open ears and minds. The material as well as the tone of the program is markedly different for middle schoolers. They are invited to participate, but there is no pressure to do so (which can be complicated for this age group in an assembly setting, where they are acutely aware of the presence (and judgement) of their peers. |
Bein' Brave What's the difference between speaking out and snitching? Intent! What's your intention? What's your motivation?
Stand Up! Bystanders watching, your silence is a weapon in the hands of the perpetrator
Think Before You Speak Don't diss me or my identity! Your right to free speech doesn't trump my right to safety and civility.
Prejudice Is the Enemy Beware of stereotypes, scapegoating, the "Innocent jokes" that put down whole groups of people
